How to Register Your Sheep with the ACR

There is a one-time fee for the registration of each sheep with the American Coopworth Registry. Membership is not required in order to register sheep.    Fees

IF YOUR SHEEP WERE REGISTERED WITH CSSNA, they may be eligible for registration with the ACR. Send their most recent CSSNA registration certificates along with a completed ACR Registration Form and the appropriate fees to the ACR Secretary. If you choose to continue performance recording these sheep, check the PD box on the Registration Form. Performance Designation will be noted on the ACR Registration Certificate.

When you register lambs born to the Performance Designated sheep in subsequent years, you will submit a Lamb Report to the ACR Secretary along with your Registration Form and make a selection of your top lambs. You may register up to 70% of the year's ewe lamb crop and up to 30% of the year's ram lamb crop. The lambs that are not selected as Performance Designated may, of course, be registered as purebred with the ACR.

Questions pertaining to the registration process should be directed to the

IF YOUR SHEEP ARE PUREBRED BUT HAVE NEVER BEEN REGISTERED, you may be able to register them with the ACR. You should send any and all information you have about your Coopworth sheep to the Open Registry Committee. This information might include a farm pedigree, a letter or bill of sale from the former owner/breeder of your sheep, photos, fleece samples and weights &/or breeding/performance records. Any information you can provide will help the Committee determine the eligibility of your sheep.

Learn more about the Open Registry Program

The ACR is committed to helping Coopworth owners and breeders register their sheep. You should always feel free to contact the Open Registry Committee or the ACR Secretary for help with any questions you have about registering your sheep. Please understand, however, that beginning a new breed registry is a huge undertaking which brings with it the responsibility of preserving the integrity of the breed for the good of all concerned. The Open Registry Committee is prepared to look at each applicant's animals individually and to consider the many different circumstances under which applications may be made. Please note that the Open Registry Program will close on December 31, 2010.
